2024 Artistic Calendar: A Dragon's Sword
shu uemura's 2024 Artistic Calendar celebrates the Year of the Dragon—a time of mythical power and transformation. Under my sole creative direction, this calendar brings the 'Ryu no Tsurugi' spirit, an ancient Japanese essence, to life with our atelier artists. Symbolizing innovation and inclusivity, it weaves a magical journey of transformation through the tapestry of artistry.
Blending technology and humanity, our AI-imagined universe seamlessly merges with human muses. Leading this project, I coordinated a 360-degree launch with the global e-commerce team (Japan, China, etc.), unveiling it on brand.com. Despite multitasking, I brought this ethereal inspiration to life in just seven months. A digital download option ensures this beauty is always at your fingertips, inspiring the dragon spirit within and sparking creativity throughout the year.
China-specific Project:
Bridging Cultures Through Creative Excellence
Explore my dynamic Douyin project, tailored specifically for the Chinese audience. Through 36 carefully crafted digital contents spanning Japanese New Culture, Masterclass, and Product categories, I aimed to captivate viewers with diverse and resonant content.
In the New Culture segment, I showcased a fresh, youthful, and vibrant perspective on Japan, steering clear of historical complexities. This approach provided an engaging glimpse into Japanese culture without unnecessary complications for the China region.
The Masterclass series featured International Artistic Director Uchiide-san, bringing techniques to life in a visually engaging, almost manga-like style. Speaking Chinese allowed me to deliver precise and genuine insights, bridging the gap between masterful techniques and everyday reality.
In the Product category, I oversaw the creative direction, strategically aligning with current social trends to enhance the product's appeal and engagement. I leveraged elements such as ASMR, texture, and packaging to captivate audiences, crafting an imaginative narrative that resonates within the digital algorithm-driven social sphere.
These contents, well-received beyond Douyin, underscore the success of culturally sensitive storytelling and creative excellence.
Shades of Goddess:
Collaboration with Junna Maruyama 丸山纯奈
for shu uemura 2024 International Women's Day
"Shades of Goddess" was a collaborative project with Japanese artist Junna Maruyama for shu uemura, celebrating International Women's Day. Through three captivating videos, we delved into the diverse facets of womanhood, blending Junna's artistry with makeup in a unique portrayal of individuality and resilience.
The videos not only featured insightful interviews but also offered a mesmerizing glimpse into Junna's artistic process through hyper-lapse techniques, a first-time reveal for her audience. I believed in the power of embracing our unique journeys, transcending backgrounds and embracing our inner strength.
Combining Junna's masterful paintbrush strokes with my makeup artistry inspired by Mr. shu uemura's iconic flaggy mode makeup, we crafted a stunning fusion of beauty and art. These videos were shared across shu uemura's global social platforms and Junna's, resonating with audiences worldwide.
